Traveling to different places

I decided to venture into unknown territory and went to Welcome Island for Orientation.  There I found lost of people milling about.  I chatted with a few of them and asked them what there was to do.

A character named Wolfy told me about "Newbie University" and asked me if I wanted to be teleported there.  I accepted and soon found myself at Newbie University.  As it turns out, Wolfy built Newbie University and it took him about a month.

As you can see I'm immersed amongst signs and you can see Wolfy in the background.  Wolfy told me to click on each sign so that I could keep each item as information on a notecard.  These cards are chock full of useful information on how to do things in Second Life.  Here are the topics of the cards that I received:

  • Giving gifts
  • Earnig lindens
  • Friends
  • Groups
  • Setting AFK
  • Manners
  • IM a stranger
  • IM a friend
  • IM nearby
  • Local chat
  • Removing attachments
  • Your avatar
  • Poseballs
  • Vampires
  • Flying
There was even a box on the floor that I clicked on and was able to keep a feather.  I would highly recommend that all new people go to Newbie University to obtain these notecards of useful information.

I ended up talking to and following Wolfy around for about an hour.  I found out that in real life he is a 67 year old computer programmer that has been doing Second Life for about 2 1/2 years.  He told me that he rents land to build in Second Life and teaches in Second Life.  Outside of Newbie University is Noah's Ark.  He said he built it from actual specifications from the Bible.  Here I am flying above it:

I was quite surprised when I went inside.  On the second level there is a door and behind the door is a Christian dance club.  Wolfy told me that if I wanted to dance I just had to click on the disco ball located in the ceiling.  Here I am dancing by myself and then dancing with Wolfy:

I told Wolfy that I was in a class about Second Life and that soon we would be learning how to build thing in Second Life.  Wolfy offered to show me how to start building items and I might take him up on the offer.  I'll let you know in a future posting if Wolfy showed me how to build anything.
